**PTO News Updates February 2020**
 
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Country Cookin fundraiser night in January. We will have one more Country Cookin night this year. Watch for a flyer to come home in Spring. 
 
Once a month, the PTO helps cover lunch duty from 10:50 to 12:45. If you are available to volunteer with lunch duty, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Promise at promisecampbell22@gmail.com. We have four dates remaining for this year.

Thank you to the 4th grade classes for sending snacks in to help fill the basket in the office. This basket is filled with treats and snacks for our faculty and staff as a little thank you for all that they do. If you would like to donate any items, please drop them off in the office and mention that they are for the teachers. Items need to be individually wrapped, think lunchbox size snacks. They need to be able to grab them on the go.
 
Suggested list of snacks:
Cookies
Granola bars
Fruit - apples, bananas, oranges
Pop Tarts
Chips/Pretzels/Crackers
Coffee K-cups
Gallon jugs of water (to be used for coffee)
Cereal or Fruit bars
Trail mix or nuts
Candy
**Kind bars or gluten free snack (We do have some gluten allergies.)
 
 
With your support, the PTO was able to provide many services for the school last year. Some of those included:
  • $100.00 for each teacher at the beginning of the year for classroom supplies
  • Brain Pop computer programs for the classrooms
  • Supper for teachers and staff during parent/teacher conferences
  • D.A.R.E t-shirts for 4th grade
  • N-Action arcade games for the Eagle Bash
  • Treats for teachers during teacher appreciation week
  • Ukulele's for the music program
  • Pizza and refreshments for Literacy Night
  • Sponsoring an Angel Tree recipient
  • Art Supplies for K-2 winter art program
  • Glow in the Dark dance
  • T-shirts for every student for field day
  • Refreshments for winter and spring musicals

The next PTO meeting will be Monday, Feb. 3rd at 6:00 in the library. We are recruiting new members for the 2020-2021 school year. We hope to see you there. Thank you for your continued support for Elon Elementary and the Elon PTO.

About the EES PTO
 
What does the PTO do?
The primary purpose of the Elon PTO is to raise money for various school projects. We sponsor events during the school year, including fundraisers, providing refreshments for school programs, T-Shirt sales, and partnering with local businesses like Funquest, Country Cookin, Biscuitville and Texas Roadhouse. Our PTO Fundraisers have helped provide:
 
  • A new school playground
  • Dictionary sets for the classrooms
  • Ukulele's for the music department
  • $100 per teacher annually for school supplies
  • Brain Pop and Brain Pop Jr. computer programs for the classrooms
  • Nature Zone Program for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades
  • Supper for faculty on Parent/Teacher Conference nights and Open House
  • D.A.R.E t-shirts
  • SOL treats for students during testing days
  • Refreshments for Winter and Spring musicals
  • Pizza for Literacy Night
  • Sponsor an Angel Tree recipient
  • Santa Event
  • Lunch for faculty/staff during Teacher Appreciation Week
  • AR Books for the library
  • Playground balls
 
How can you be involved?
 
All parents are a part of our PTO! Volunteering with the Elon PTO is a great way to be involved with the students and teachers at our school. You can show your support for our school by participating in fundraising activities and volunteering at PTO sponsored events. Anyone wishing to volunteer or chaperone must complete a background check prior to volunteering. We strongly suggest doing this as soon as possible as it can take at least six weeks to complete. You can have this done at no charge at:
