PTO News Updates April 2019
Happy Spring to all,
The Uncle Jerry's fundraiser was a success! With your support, we reached our goal of being able to provide field day t-shirts for every student this year. Thank you to everyone who participated in our spring fundraiser.
The Elon PTO will be participating in the Honey Bee Festival at Amherst County High Shchool on Sat. May 11th from 9:00 to 4:00 pm. We will have t-shirts, cinch sacks, bracelets and car magnets for sale. If you are there, please stop by and support Elon Elementary and the Elon PTO.
The book fair starts Friday, April 5th. To make things easeir for parents, Scholastic has introduced the eWallet. It's a digital payment option for book fair! Parents create an account for their student and set a spending limit. It's a secure, cash free, digital payment option. Parents can set up their eWallets starting March 22nd. Students can shop with their eWallets any day of the Fair; once the fair ends, unused funds are released back to the credit card on file.
Since eWallet is already enabled for your Book Fair, all you have to do is log onto the Book Fair webpage to sign up!

Our PTO Fundraisers have helped provide:
  • A new school playground
  • Dictionary sets for the classrooms
  • Ukulele's for the music department
  • $100 per teacher annually for school supplies
  • Brain Pop and Brain Pop Jr. computer programs for the classrooms
  • Nature Zone Program for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades
  • Supper for faculty on Parent/Teacher Conference nights and Open House
  • D.A.R.E t-shirts
  • SOL treats for students during testing days
  • Refreshments for Winter and Spring musicals
  • Pizza for Literacy Night
  • Sponsor an Angel Tree recipient
  • Santa Event
  • Lunch for faculty/staff during Teacher Appreciation Week
  • AR Books for the library
  • Playground balls
How can you be involved?
All parents are a part of our PTO! Volunteering with the Elon PTO is a great way to be involved with the students and teachers at our school. You can show your support for our school by participating in fundraising activities and volunteering at PTO sponsored events. Anyone wishing to volunteer or chaperone must complete a background check prior to volunteering. We strongly suggest doing this as soon as possible as it can take at least six weeks to complete. You can have this done at no charge at:
                                            Amherst County Public Schools
                                                     School Board Office
                                               Office of Human Resourses
                                                  153 Washington Street
                                                      Amherst, VA 24521
                                                          (434) 946-9376
There are also many ways you can volunteer from home!  Ask a teacher or a board member today how you can help.
